Denver lock work
Safe opening and repair in Denver
A forgotten combination or a dead keypad doesn't have to mean a ruined safe. Fixr's survey puts opening by manipulation at $140 to $200, and drilling at $200 to $250 for a fire safe or $350 to $450 for a money safe.

Before you call
- Keypad dead? Try a new battery first. Many keypad safes have battery contacts on the outside for exactly this.
- Look for the override key. It's often taped into the manual or sitting in whatever drawer the buyer kept paperwork in.
- Find the brand and serial number. Some manufacturers will release a combination or a key once you prove ownership.

Safe work is a specialty
Plenty of locksmiths don't open safes. Ask whether they do manipulation, and if drilling turns out to be necessary, who repairs the hole and what that adds.
Showing it's yours
Expect to prove the safe belongs to you or that you have the right to open it: a receipt, or estate paperwork for a parent's safe. What proof to have.
What Denver callers ask about this
Will opening the safe destroy it?
Manipulation leaves it fully working. Drilling leaves a hole that can usually be patched, though an inexpensive fire safe may not be worth the repair.
